The second regatta of the season was held on the Dart this week, run upriver by Dart-Totnes Rowing Club and proved a good test for the Dartmouth team.
With crews entered in both the Ladies Novice 4+ and the Ladies Senior C 4+, the DARC girls were back at it again. Qualifying comfortably in both their heats, the Ladies Senior C had their debut row on Saturday and brought home a satisfying win over Castledore and Totnes, putting 3 points towards their championship campaign, crew: Ellie Langman, Tess Preston, Ellie Malley, Lottie Cusack, Jo Langmead (cox).
Next was Nadine Smith in the Ladies J18 scull; with a hard drive at the start, she led the opposition to the 500m mark, where main rival Burridge from Dart Totnes overtook. Pushing all the way to the line, Nadine went on to take 2nd place which she was extremely happy with.
Also sculling for DARC on Saturday in the Mens J18 and the Mens Novice was Josh Pichowski, who had several quick turn arounds following his heats for both. Unfortunately, he was knocked out before the finals but put in 4 hard races in the wind and rain to try and get there.
Last race for DARC was the Ladies Novice 4+, with high ambitions after their win at the last regatta; the girls were really racing Bideford Reds for the first quarter of the course. After a big push to the halfway mark, the girls settled to a comfortable lead, crossing the line in 1st with 3 lengths of clear water. Crew: Ellie Langman, Lottie Cusack, Ellie Malley, Nadine Smith, Tess Preston (cox).
This marks the end of their Novice racing, as the girls have now won enough races to move up a status. They will now be working hard towards the Senior C championship for the rest of the season. DARC's next regatta will be Exeter, on Saturday 10th July.
